Project Details
DBL Group (“DBL”), founded in 1991, is one of the largest textile and garments businesses in Bangladesh and operates along the entire value chain of the sector, producing a range of products including fabrics, shirts, knitwear, dresses, etc. DBL currently has a total cotton yarn need of 100T/day, of which it already produces 40T/day in-house. The Project, which will be managed under a newly incorporated entity, Jinnat Textile Mills Ltd. (“Jinnat”) will allow DBL to backward integrate and produce an additional 35T/day of their cotton yarn need. The Project will be located in the Sreehatta Economic Zone, a special economic zone (SEZ), located in the Moulovibazar District southwest of Sylhet and established by the Bangladesh government with established infrastructure linkages to support the Project’s supply chain.
The new Project will, once operating, require the hire of C. 1k employees with 85% of these dedicated to production. The Sreehatta SEZ is leased from the government on a 50-year lease by DBL Industrial Park Ltd. Jinnat will enter into a sub-lease to build and operate the Project. It is planned that the new factory will be LEED-certified.
